Eastland Mall Abatement and Demolition

EHG was awarded the contract from the City of Charlotte to demolish a 1.2 million square foot three-story mall. Historic relevance and the local support and involvement of local residents offered a unique opportunity to give back to the community. Despite having over 22,660 tons of hazardous waste and C&D, EHG managed to recycle 80% of the building materials. Over 35 tons of materials, flooring, fixtures, furniture and equipment was donated or sold to the local community for reuse. Many local charities and businesses benefited from the demolition.

NCSU Talley Center Demolition

This project provided approximately 290,000 gross square feet of improved and expanded student center, dining, meeting, and retail spaces, including the NCSU Bookstores. The old 1972 structure was completely rebuilt, with only the 800-seat performing arts theatre remaining intact.
Bridgewater Hydro Abatement and Demolition

Duke Energy contracted EHG to decommission the Old Bridgewater Hydroelectric Plant (BWH) in Morganton, NC. Built in 1919, the plant resided along Lake James, which spans McDowell and Burke counties. Due to the age and location of the plant, EHG had to implement environmental controls to prevent any debris from falling into the waterway. North Hills Mall

North Hills Mall claims to be the first enclosed mall built between Atlanta and Washington, DC. EHG was selected to perform total site demolition, asbestos abatement and hazardous material abatement.
The hazardous material abatement included the removal of PCB laden oils from elevator and escalator pits, refrigerants from air conditioning units, old solvents and miscellaneous chemicals as well as PCB ballasts and mercury light bulbs. The work also included removal of several thousand square feet of asbestos containing fireproofing, floor tile, roofing and cementitious asbestos containing materials. Read More….
